Emma Holden

Angus Young, Jack White, and Chris Martin walk into a bar. Emma Holden is already there. They ask her if she wants a drink, she says no, I only drink when I’m thirsty. They ask if she’s from around here, Nashville, they mean. Born and raised, she says, how bout y’all, but she already knows where they’re from. She gets thirsty, she has a Jack and water. She’s been doing this since she was four. Not the drinking, she emphasizes, but the music. The electric guitar, mostly, but she dabbles in anything that makes noise. Don’t get her wrong, she’ll shred, but she appreciates a good bongo.
She’s been seen around, spearheading local bands like Abernathy and Milk People. She’s a believer in a flattering hat, but only if it compliments the playing. A little bit playful, a little bit off-the-wall, a lot of pure energy and talent, and we’ll go ahead and say she’s allowed to wear the hat. And she’s recently taken a bit of time for herself to think, you know, really think about music. And then she wrote that music. And then she decided to take that to the next level. And now, she’s back. With a big ole group of energetic, talented people. Thomas Altman (bass, Tribal Hoose), James Varner (drums, Milk People), Nathan Aronowitz (keys, Down Boy), Joe Pirrie (guitar), and Mary Katherine Seabury (backup vocals) are all coming together. They’re taking Emma’s solitary thoughtchildren and socializing them, swishing them around, throwing them, playing them, hammering them out until they’re full-on, face-slapping animals who are all allowed to wear whatever hats they please.
